IS IT GOOD TO ADD GARLIC TO THE FISH FOOD FOR OVERALL HEALTH I FEED MYSIS N BRINE SHRIMP ALSO SEAWEED SHEETS FOR MY TANGS

I don't buy into garlic myths specially when it comes to curing parasites like ich. Some say it entices the fish to eat.
I have an experiment lined out after my current study is over to prove if garlic is a myth or not.

I eat garlic like crazy and swear it makes me feel better. As for the addition to fish foods I agree with Dr. Reef but I swear my tangs like the garlic seaweed better than the plain seaweed...

It may make finicky fish more apt to try food, but it’s health benefits in fish are suspect...

Why just garlic? Why not onions? I'm not being facetious but they are both in the same family and garlic makes my stomach turn but I'll eat an onion like an apple. I was taught that your eyes tear up when cutting onions because onions contain sulphur and when mixed with tears it creates sulphuric acid, but I've never had that reaction. I love the taste of garlic but it still bothers my stomach. I know I'm going off a tangent but why is garlic different than onions? Onions at least have less oils.

Which may bother protein skimmers less. Sorry just wanted to make sure that I was not being obscure.

I put three drops of garlic when I feed my fish with misys shrimp twice a week and they go crazy.

I think that’s been a long time debate. Some say it is good for the immune system and as an appetite suppressant. Then then the other half says not to use garlic, that it causes liver problems. I just don’t. Personally, I just make sure I feed a well rounded diet, vary it as much as possible. Not too much of any one thing. I do use vitamins and Selco. I ha e used garlic in the past making my own food and as a supplement, but stopped. I personally stay away from anything controversial or doesn’t have some sort of scientific, evidenced based research. Not any one source has all the answers. I say follow Mother Nature, make your own food if u can or buy quality foods such as Reef Nutrition / AP Breed and Fertility Frenzy are my two favorites. High quality, highly digestible proteins, carotenoids, highly unsaturated fatty acids, & probiotics to name a few ingredients. Feed your fish right and they’ll be very healthy and beautiful. They may even spawn for you!

I have a clown goby that's deathly skinny and I've been trying to feed it freshly hatched brine shrimp. No bites. Then I got a clove of garlic, minced it up, smushed it up a little and put it in a bowl. I put the shrimp in the bowl with the garlic before I fed it to the fish and then he started showing a touch of interested in the food. Might be a coincidence, might not, but I think he's eating so I'll keep doing it for now.

It’s funny but onions upset my stomach, garlic does not.. Just to be clear, I don’t eat whole bulbs of garlic at a time..
I would have no friends if I did that![emoji39]
