So Ive been out of the hobby for a good number of years and decided to get back in. The build is going to be for a SPS dominate 5'x 2'x 1' tank. It started off as a frag tank but shortly after receiving it I realized its potential. My son was born during the build so the thread is a bit of a catch up. Feel free to offer any advice in which you see fit. :)

I first started with the renovation of a storage room into a fish room. I noticed their was no insulation barrier so down came the sheetrock :(. The good new is it made running my electrical lines that much easier. Lots of breaks haha.

Cool and welcome back! Following!

Meanwhile during the renovation I decided to get a jump start on a few ends before the tank arrived.

I chose to start with the sump first. I had my glass baffles cut to size with 1/16 to 1/8'' reduction then I rounded the bottom edges with my dremel. And yes I wear socks with my sandals :)

I wanted to set up a battery back up for my tank in case of power failure. I run my return using Tunze 1073.05 and using two Tunze 6095s for internal flow. I live in Louisiana so loss of power is pretty much unavoidable.

I cut of the original connectors that came with the Tunze back up as I didn't feel the connectors were as solid of a connection as I would have liked.

Luckily my garage was right behind my washing machine. I ran the tubing through the walls for the connection and drain. The output leads to a 55 Brute in the garage.

Of course the cats brought in an animal that ran for shelter right where I needed to work
