Im not sure if this is the right area to post but this tanks been setup for about 7 weeks perimeters are below theres only 1 fish in there a coral beauty added him 4 days ago last night he was fine this morning there seems to be some sort of gash or cut on the fishes mouth on the right side i posted a video below could he have gotten startled and hurt himself on the rock? could it be a disease? thanks for all the input btw hes still eating like a pig and swimming normally

i cycled the tank with a fishless cycle and this is the first fish ive added after the cycle completed around week 4

150G tank (72x18x28)
ammonia 0.00
nitrite 0.00
nitrate 5.0

I think you’re probably correct with the notion that it was an injury sustained within the aquarium as a result of being startled etc. If you didn’t notice this when you purchased the fish then that is most likely the cause. If the fish is behaving normally ie eating well, swimming around etc I probably wouldn’t stress it as most likely the fish will be fine. If something changes in the fishes normal behavior in my experience the redness on a fish is due to damage to the protective slime layer that fish have. If that layer has been breached the skin becomes irritated as a bacteria usually sets in and starts to eat away at the surrounding skin. In that event add Seachems Kanaplex and focus to the fishes food and it should resolve the issue without affecting your bacterial bed. Just make sure you treat the food and not the water column.

Just like a human, feed it soft foods such as plankton or brine shrimp. One thing amazing about marine fish and even inverts is , how fast they heal and repair themselves !!
