Gate Valve on Return

I am trying to get more flow to my UV Sterilizer. I have enough flow through my main return.

If I put a gate or ball valve on the return line to reduce the flow in the return, will that push more flow to my UV Stetalizer?

Are there any issues putting a gate or ball valve on a return line?
