Gate Valve question

Hi,
i have a 1-inch threaded gate valve and need to use Male Adapter but can't get it all the way fit . is that normal? and is it generally safe to use a threaded gate valve? i can go get slip one if not.

It is fine as long as there is no leak around the threads

Put some Teflon tape on the threads for cheap insurance.

Yes you should always use Teflon tape.

I have wasted way to many expensive fittings gluing them together.
Things change and stuff is re-done.
From this point forward I will always be using threaded everything.
