Gauging current interest in corals

Still not understanding you're going to meet monthly minimum orders required by Distributors. You going to keep a stock.if corals?

You cannot call up a Distributors and say George wants a pink tip torch at $120.... dropping one to him, charge me $70 for it

.
Many wholesale businesses are tailored for brick and mortar stores, however there are many wholesalers out there who are willing to accommodate the little guys too! My wholesalers do not require a minimum gallon requirement nor do they require me to subscribe to a policy, they're run by hobbyists and are great people!

And you've purchased thru them? Quality? Availability?

This breaks all the rules I've come to know thru my part time job in a coralshop dealing with LARGE LOS ANGELES CORAL DISTRIBUTORS

I believe yet I don't. Idk...

I have Purchased through them! I'm unable to compare quality with other wholesalers of course nor do I understand their regulations, but I can vouch for their quality and availability.

Now you've got me thinking. I want to try out some SPS in my tank, but I don't want to spend $50+ on a tiny frag I'm not even sure will grow. So I'd love some low-end SPS (Birds nest, etc.) for under $20.
Please PM Me! I'll see what I can do. Even better if you are local as I am able to get it our to you for much cheaper than shipping!

Torches are very hit or miss. I very much appreciate your reply. P.s. I am a huge fan please post more of your Dragon eel!
Anytime, if you want to see more of him heres my build thread on his tank and my Instagram is @thedragonsreef, plenty of pictures haha

I hope to be able to bring great corals to those who want it at a reasonable price with no BS.
I'd be concerned with large LA distributors catching wind of this and all your contacts getting legal trouble for what's called

"Bastardizing the Industry" in biz terms i.e. slashing prices lower than industry accepted standards

Go buy an Oil Field in the Middle East and announce you'll be selling millions of barrels of Oil at or below $40/barrel. See how far OPEC will allow this legally

Your contacts if they have their own lines back to Indo might get some legal heat from LA Distributors for undercutting (bastardizing) the distribution chain.

For you, I'd definitely make sure you're an LLC with limits on being sued.

So are you going to be local and shipping?

I question how you are addressing overnight shipping options, which IME currently are hit or miss and fairly expensive. For me as a consumer I will buy many affordable corals under $50 to offset the cost of overnight shipping, but I stop even thinking about sending a small box through the mail in the wintertime.

I tend to buy from vendors that have a good shipping rate (UPS is better in my location), a good selection, possible different stock from time to time. One vendor I use has the old standbys for $30, but also has some new selections which are still around $50 and has really nice deals on pricey stuff every month. I've also liked vendors that have other things that I can add like snails or shrimp, etc, to the order. If I can get a box of four corals for around $100 shipped overnight to my house then I'm interested.

I haven't considered shipping costs in the winter! That's a very important step that I've overlooked. While I understand that it would be appealing to get low shipping costs, I'm just not sure if that is possible for me at the moment. I will definitely look into a more secure and cost effective way to ship to customers. Thank you for your detail response!

It’s getting hard to find anywhere to get 4 corals less than $100 these days .
I shop for the $10-$50 frags but have not tried having them shipped to me .
winter in Canada .. no I’m not depending on Canada post to deliver livestock on time

I watch fragbox tv on youtube and definitely a little jealous of their prices. At least on the larger pieces and colonies.
