Has anyone ever heard of the standard issue greenish colored paly causing issues with anemones? I had a green BTA in a spot and lost it. Then I put another GBTA in the same area awhile later and it isn't looking so hot either. I got it off the rock but it seemed like every time it touched a paly, it pulled itself in like it was just stung.

I thought the BTA would have a stronger sting than a paly and would win over the paly if there was a fight...

Note to self, no posting to Reef2Reef at 12:40 PM...lol.

The nem is now on a clam shell in a different position of the tank. It is looking better and is holding onto the shell really well. My wife is giving me status updates through the day but I will know more tonight. It is no longer in contact with the palys.

By the way, these paly are the ones I consider as bad or worse than aptasia most days. They grow so fast and spread on the rock faster than I can remove them. If anyone wants any, come on over and take them for free. They are going to be taken off the rock this weekend.

yea man palyotoxin is one of the most lethal things out there! you shouldnt even handle them w.o gloves! really try and keep your corals a safe distance from them!

Yes, be careful removing them. The palytoxin will kill your corals as easily as you. Siphon out their remains as quickly as possible before the slime can spread through the water. I liken them to terrorist aiptasia wearing little dynamite belts to take everything out with them when they are killed.

They are not good to eat or be in contact with open wounds, however I have handled them without gloves for years. I typically kill them with kalk paste when they get out of control and no-one wants them. I have yet to hear of a tank crashing due to the removal of zoas
