i bought GE silicone 1 all purpose silicone to use for my DIY refrugium but on the back it says “not for aquarium/underwater use. I saw videos online saying it was okay for that but now I saw this. Should I use it or no? I put an image of the exact one I bought

Does it say anything about mold inhibitors? I believe ge 1 is the good stuff. I'm sure their lawyers had them say not for aquarium use just to be safe.

Should be good to go, as mentioned above give it a week or two to fully cure before filling it. The not for aquarium use is legal jargon because that's not what it was designed for and I'm sure they want no part of people blaming them for tank crashes...

No, I know there is another one that does say “mold prevention” and I stayed away from that one. This is one I’ve seen used in videos but I just didn’t know it said that on the tube. But thanks I guess it should be fine

Okay I gotcha haha thank you!

I used it in my sump. I did not have any issues. Just let it cure fully.

Not hijacking this thread, but I might wind up using the same if what I have doesn't work. I have a tube of the Aqueon silicone and plan on building the sump this weekend. Does anybody know if it will bond acrylic to glass?

Bonding acrylic to glass, you want to use a silicone that is specifically made for acrylic (plastics). It's still available at HD, but you're not going to find it with the other caulks in the Paint Department. You have to go to where they sell acrylic sheet goods (for me that's in the Window Department) and you'll find this caulk made for acrylic. And it's safe to use in the aquarium (again, as long as you let it cure fully).

Thank you. I'll make a stop at HD on the way home.
