Did they change the tube? I dont remember the old one saying mold resistant 7 years? It still says its 100% silicone. Is this safe to put in an aquarium?

NO!!!
The mold inhibitors will nuke your tank
Use that tube around the house and get some aquarium silicone;
GE SCS1200
Momentive RTV100
ASI Aquarium Sealant
Aqueon Aquarium Sealant

Interesting! Good catch! Does it have a model number on the tube such as GE012 (maybe to the left of the logo)? I would suggest that you do more research before using that tube even though it appears to be GE1. The new packaging for the GE silicone appears to say 7 years mold free for GE1 and 10 years mold free for GE2. I couldn't find an updated SDS sheet with a quick internet search.

I just looked up GE Silicone I at Home Depot and it does look like they changed up the color/labeling on the tube.

Sorry just saw all these awesome responses! Lol. I thought so too that it has the mold bs stuff in it but I'm pretty sure that is ge silicone 2. Let me check the label brb!

I will NOT use this stuff. I only use aquarium Sealant by Aqueon, or all glass aquarium. It is made for aquarium construction and aquarium use only.

I really think that's all it is cause I've used ge silicone 1 in the past in fish tanks but the new label threw me off lol

That line about mold-free is what would stop me from using it. Any kind of mold resistance IMHO means the added chems are going to kill your critters.

I used GE1 silicone once. Tube stated not for aquarium use. I used it anyway. Corals started to die. Come to find out, it had fungicide in it. It was a mess to clean it up. I only use silicone for aquarium use.

Yeah so I bought the new GE silicone 1 and it says 7 year mold whatever, I will definitely not be using it after hearing other peoples bad experiences. I looked around at Home Depot and I couldn't find any without the mold free option.

so I have a piece of glass with a hole cut out for a filter roller I am trying to incorporate in my sump. I planned on siliconing small thin pieces of glass parallel to act as a tray to hold up the glass with a hole. like the small pieces in the Red Sea tanks that hold up the filter sock holders. I am also going to silicone larger pieces perpendicular to block off water. Do you think it is best to use the Aqueon fish tank silicone sealant now that I can't find any regular silicone in stores? this one:

im guessing that is strong enough. here are some pics of what I am planning on siliconing. hopefully you understand lol.

I used to use GE silicone 1 for all kinds of things in my tank-that is until i saw the change in the label. That tells me there is likely a change in the product, as in it now has a mold inhibitor. Bummer because it was inexpensive.
