there should be some type of advertising on the HOB filters themselves to identify them. based off the pictures i am guessing MAYBE aqueon HOB filters as those are the most common.. maybe google some pictures of the filters and scroll to see if any match the ones you have?

Keep the ceramic media, ditch the pad and buy filter floss. Put the ceramic media in the bottom chamber and cover it with the floss. When the floss gets dirty, toss it and replace with fresh.

should i use both filters or just the one, and is everything in the bag ceramic

I would use both. I don't know for sure that it is ceramic, usually they are. But they will hold all the good bacteria in the tank.

so do i put the bag in the filter, or take all of the stuff out and put in, like what is the deal

Take it all out of the bag and put it in the chamber. How many chambers do they each have? Are you doing fish only or do you plan on some corals?

the smaller one has 2 chambers that are fitted for pads (first pic) and the larger filter also has 2 (2nd pic). I do plan on doing corals

Sponge, (filter pad) carbon in bag, no need for anything else. You can run GFO in a bag if phosphates continually increase.

Lots of good porous reef rock, flow, bottle bacteria and let her rip.

so for the smaller filter, will the pads that are already there work?
