Hello, my name is Frank and I'm a aqua-holic.
I started out buying my partner of 20 gallon tank for christmas 2012 and shortly thereafter, my infatuation with aquariums took off. When I was about 10, I had a 9 inch Oscar and fed him goldfish but I was tired of cleaning the tank all the time so I got rid of it.
But this past christmas, my partner wanted a saltwater tank so I got him one. I thought, why is a 20 gallon tank so hard to keep...my levels were always out of wack, one day they would be fine, I would feed then they would be wacky again. I did a research and found out that because of the size, you had to be careful feeding and pay close attention to the details. Well, I didn't have time to test daily and the relationship was taking a toll because of the amount of time I was spending on it. Even thought this was his present, I was the one that got addicted - go figure.
We upgraded to a 55 gallon. It was a little better and we had out levels under control but we decided to go on vacation for a week and left feeding instructions with our roommate. Man, did he mess up our tank. We couldn't even see throught the glass there was so much algae!
So, we decided to go upgrade to a 90 we found on CL since we knew how to keep a tank under control. LOVED IT but as time went on and did more research, we decided that a corner flow wasn't for us so once again, we upgraded to another 90 but with a center overflow (which we currently have). We are in the wait and let it grow stage (which i'm having a very hard time doing btw). I can't keep my hands out of it. I recently switched to LEDs and am playing with other electronics as the next step. I was told to keep my hands "out of the tank" but no one said not to mess with it "outside of the tank", right? :xd:
I think this is going to be a great addiction - better than drugs and alcohol, right?
