Gel blocks for benthic feeding fish?

This is mostly aimed at dragonets and other fish that are better suited for eating throughout the day, but has anybody tried making gel feeding blocks (similar to the Tetra vacation disks) for daily feeding of fish? I figure it might be a good way of getting extra nutrition into the fish, as you can mix in spirulina and other powderized foods into the gelatin/agar agar, while also mixing in meatier foods like squid, shrimp, and bivalves.

Most of the gel food recipes I see seem to call for freezing the food mush and then doling it out as frozen. I'm wondering if it's worth it to make a week's worth of "fish jello" (a la 1950's jello recipes), and pop a disk into the tank every morning so the fish have constant grazing opportunities.

LRS Fertility Frenzy is basically a gel food.
Per their description it contains; “an unflavored gelatin binder”.
I’ve mixed mine with 50 micron Reef Pearls and stuck it on the glass for my copperbands.
Seeing that it is blended to a mush and includes extra nutrients/HUFAs I think it would make for a great Mandarin feed.
