Gem tang dying

Hey everyone.
I’ve had this gem for awhile.
He had a popped out eye and then later on for fin rot.
I’ve had him for almost 2 years and he has been super far and active
So I caught him. I dipped him in methyl blue for 10 seconds. The 50ppm.
Put him on a hospital tank that has general cure.
He was fine.
I came home to find him on his side
I brought him back to main tank. He’s breathing but can’t keep himself up.
He’s most likely dead, but anything to save him?

methelyne blue was not a good choice and mostly freshwater specific. It also seems to have rot below its mouth and what you describe is bacterial or other issue. General cure would not likely be the treatment for what you described and this fish is now what it seems moribund in which it will not eat or swim normal and I can guess its breathing heavy?

Yeah his breathing isn’t good. . I assumed he wouldn’t make it. But I had to try.
The LFS suggested methyl blue. I’ll be calling the company tomorrow

Methylene blue is often suggested as an “oxygen donor”. This is apparently in reference to how it helps in cases of human cyanide poisoning. It also has mild anti bacterial and anti protozoan effects. Trouble is, it won’t cure the original issue. I don’t know what the original problem stemmed from in this case though….

Now I can only wait and do nothing, because the fish is already extremely weak. See if the fish’s pupils are dilated.

He died a few hours later unfortunately.
