I scooped up an older model Gen 2 the other day from a local guy. Everything works fine, it just seems to have a slightly more greenish/yellow tone to the light than what I am use to seeing. Nothing crazy but Ive noticed it. I am in a 2 week acclimation cycle and I have the settings on AB+ with the whites, reds, and greens toned down to 14 and about 65% in overall intensity. Keep in mine I have never owned a Radion Pro. I am curious if this is just normal or typical with this specific generation or could it be the light just having a little age on it? Should I just go right to a Gen 5 because its exponentially better? Price isn't an issue I just liked the idea at the time of trying out a brand of light first with an older model to see if I would like it visually I guess. Suggestions or recommendations would be great!

*My tank is a 30 Gal mixed but I would like to start leaning more towards SPS dominate.

If you had a Gen 3 or 4 I would say dont upgrade its not worth it. However the Gen 2 is pretty old and outdated now. EM has made some pretty big improvements in lenses, cooling, output/par, spread and LEDs to the Radion over the last 3 generations. Is the Gen 2 still a great light, yes, will it grow coral, yes, will it color up coral, yes. So not saying its a bad light.

UPDATE: Since this post I have discovered that the Radions have a led calibration tool within EL! Here you can calibrate each led spectrum color for greater spectrum blending and accuracy. Easy to conduct and these dusty G2’s look stunning. This solved the greenish appearance issue that I was most concerned about!

Makes sense to upgrade to a more modern led tech light. I think thats what Ill do soon. Thanks!
