Right now my fish are being treated with coppersafe. Something is still gaing on as my hippo looked really bad and a couple of fish are flashing. Can I add general cure? Or do I have to wait until I pull the copper. The hippo has been much better after a fw dip.

I didnt look. I figured I would use general cure regardless

I am also curious to know, because I am dealing with some issues I am trying to pinpoint in QT myself.

What is your Copper level? How are you testing?

How long have they been at the therapeutic level?

Are these fish from live Aquaria by chance?

To answer your question you can use General cure during copper. Make sure you have ample oxygenation.
I would only do so if you confirm flukes are present.

These are fish I've had for a little while. I may have gotten a few from Live Aquaria. I am not testing for copper as I've heard that the tests are not that accurate anyway. I just added a tiny bit more than what is on the directions. Before i did the fw dip, the hippo was barely moving, not eating and his skin looked like it was peeling or something. Since then, (about 3 days ago) he's been much better. I thought it could be brook none of the other fish show similar system including the clownfish.

I’ve used general cure in conjunction with coppersafe countless times with sensitive fish like leopards wrasses and tangs. No ill affects. Got a cloudy tank once (bacteria bloom or something) but that’s all.

Thanks. On the directions for GC, it says that after treatment, you need to get it out if the system. How did you do that and keep the copper levels where they need to be?

I always do a big water change (25% - 50%) 48 hours after dosing and dose the amount of copper that was removed.

I write the amount of ml I dose on the tank and go off that.

There have been some serious problems with the dosage & strength varying from bottle to bottle of coppersafe when using as directed on the bottle. There have been some serious overdoses that have killed and or injured fish. Copper Power is right on the money though and is what many of us are recommending. To make sure many are also recommending using a Hanna HL Copper Checker. Extremely accurate and gives you peace of mind.
