Just got a few questions about qt, I know they've probably been answered somewhere before, but there aren't like millioms of posts [emoji23]

Any fish that need 'special treatment?' I plan on quite a few wrasses. I read somewhere that CP is a big no for wrasses? How would you the treat for velvet etc.

I know you need a new airline and airstone for every transfer during ttm. Can you just use one airpump and change the airline each time or is two better?

I don't think it's possible to get pure CP in South Africa where I live. So CP malaria tablets will have to do. Anyone had bad side effects feom the non active ingredients? I read somewhere that there's 150mg per 250mg tablet. Is this right?

Where do you get Praziquantel? Haven't seem it at any lfs here. Does a nirmal pharmacy stock it?

How effective is Seachem Paraguard? Would it be an alternative to CP?

Do anemones also need to be quarantined for 76 days? Or is it just for hard shelled inverts?

Instead of drying tanks in between transfers, could you not just fill it with freshwater? And soak the equipment as well.

Critique my qt:

Normal TTM for 14 days. Freshwater dips in between transfers.

Into observation tank with CP or paraguard for 2 weeks. Just a hob filter for filtration. Add Metronidazole as well, either into food or into water. Not sure yet.

Do a few 50% waterchanges to get rid of CP and then add Praziquantel (if I can find it). Is this necessary to get rid of the CP before adding prazi?

Add to display.

Qt all other stuff for 76 days before going into display.

Some wrasses (haleroshous? I can't spell that) and Regal Tangs seem to be sensitive to CP and should be avoided with the med. Everyone else will have to be taken on a case by case basis.

I use just one airpump for my TTM. it works out just fine.

Not sure about the actual marlaria tablets, so I'll leave this questions for Humble

You probably won't find Prazi at a pharmacy. You might look at online vendors. I dont know what's available to you in Africa, but if you have ebay or amazon, you'll probably find it there.

Paraguard isn't an alternative to CP or Copper. It's unproven at best, a total waste at worst. We just arn't sure about it yet and can only go off of what they have said about it and what the ingredients list tells us which isn't very hopeful.

Anemones have their own QT procedures. Depending on what kind they can need Cipro treatment. Though for ick or velvet concerns a quick rinse in tank water after acclimation would suffice.

Drying the tanks is the safest way to be sure they are completely sterile and safe after each transfer

Your QT protocol looks ok. Though I wouldnt do the freshwater dips every single transfer. It just doesn't seem necessary. If you can't find Prazi, look for General Cure as it contains Both prazi and metroplex which will treat both intestinal worms and flatworms. That would cover both those meds for the price of one - so to speak. It's always smart to remove one med before introducing another. There are several that can be combined, but they can sometimes create bacterial blooms that suck the oxygen out of the water. If you dont have to combine them, then don't.

For the time being, I wouldn't use CP on ANY wrasses. More research needs to be done to figure out which wrasses can tolerate CP and which cannot. Use copper (preferably chelated) on wrasses & Hippo Tangs.

Now I know why I was doubting it.... I remember you saying that before, I just didn't realize that I remembered until now. Wait.... did that make sense? I'm losin my mind today. :confused:o_O
