General question on tuxedo urchins and hermits

What kind of hermits? Some are stone cold killers. Others just want the snail shells

Isn't the whole reason behind the urchins spines is no one will eat it? I have both, and my hermits leave my urchin alone. But then again my red leg hermits have never touched a snail either?

Just wondering. I have some scarlet hermits and left handed hermits (black and white hermits). The black and whites going to town on a shipment of turbos i got today (arrived dead, I put a few in the tank and they couldn't move faster to them -- figured if anything its food and a shell for them).

I have the original 3 red leg hermits in my tank(been like 5 years with this tank now), and I have never bought more. They have never changed shells(even though bigger are certainly provided by dead snails), and I have never seen them murder a snail.
My snails typically die from old age, or from not getting flipped back over.

My hermits (blue leg and thin striped) leave my urchin alone. The urchin carried one around as a trophy once, which was entertaining, I wish I had gotten a pic of it.
Hermits only killed one of my nassarius snails. But it was weak and looked like it was dying anyway. The hermit is now wearing its shell.
