General Question

I'm enjoying this forum way to much. I'm spending a lot of time reading post and trying to learn. I have a JBJ 28g Nano Cube - Intermediate. Everything is stock haven't changed anything. Had it up and running since 12/27/15. My test result have been good. Started adding mag as it was low for a few weeks, but that's back up into the right parameters. My question is about the green algae. Is it always good? When is it bad? Here is a pic, my go to guy at my lfs says it's good not to worry. But I'm just wondering.

In the beginning it can be normal, but that is also what your cleanup crew is for. Looks like you have some coralline starting there as well. Any inhabitants, be it fish or coral?

My thought as well, did you use PurpleUp or seed it with other rock? Looks like he's got a piece of coral in there though... Not sure what looks like LPS for sure.

Green algae will be taken care of by the CUC.
You said MAG was low, how low was it?

Ok yes 3 pieces of coral. Green elegance, and two others. (Names escape me right now). 2 clowns and a scooter. My mag was at 1320. I used all live rock to start up. No Purple Up

Good, @Diesel will be proud. Your mag is just a touch high, but only just.

1320 is considered within range for MAG.
You can reduce the time from your lights some or just try one or two days the lights off.
If that reduces the amount of green algae than your photo period might be to intense.
You run any nutrients reducer reactors?

Reactors or a refugium with some chaeto (Nutrient reducing algae)
Two of the most common reactors in this hobby we use are the GFO reactor and the bio-pellet reactor.
You Google these it will give you tons of options on equipment from a low $50 GFO reactor to as $300+ bio-pellets.
Lots of ppl run a refugium with chaeto as you can use part of your sump to do so.

Check also on the three days lights out.
Very attractive for reducing algae in a short time.
If you not able to tackle the nutrient control it can come back.
