hi guys I'm new here I recently got a red emperor snapper not doing research on it before hand. I have a 125 gallon fish only tank and I already am practically overstocked. Any idea on how fast the red emperor snapper grows I bought him about 2-3 inches he did grow a bit. But I have a a yellow tail damsel and a couple of clown fish that that are small I want to have an idea on when he might start becoming a threat to them. Because I have other larger fish that I know he won't bother at all. I'm at about 17 fish total the tank is standing for about 4-5 months.

Before loosing the smaller fish to it I would say you have 2 options only...
Remove the snapper or the smaller fish before they become prey..
good luck bud..

I was thinking to get rid of him but question is to who the place I bought it from wont take it back and I'm trying to sell it but can't find anyone in NY. Do you have any recommendations?

They grow pretty quickly, though I've had snappers leave small fish alone that were in the tank before it, even though they were more than capable of eating them. They woulf eat new fish they could swallow. A very limited sample size and a risk for sure.

Most LFS should take a fish off your hands. In this case, they may not give much(if any credit), but at least it wouldn't be eating your fish.
