General Use Reverse Osmosis Device bypass after stage 5.

Hello guys,
Due to limited space and budget I want to get 1 device to use as both kitchen and Aquarium Reverse Osmosis.
My idea is to get a 7 stage device like this:

Which essentially Purifies for 5 stages, and then has 2 stages of putting back minerals into the water (for drinking).

I want to do some sort of bypass after stage 5 where I can when required for the aquarium use it with just 5 stages (purification).
Did anyone do something similar in their homes? Thanks

Like how many DI stages?

What i would do is plumb the remineralization cartridges into the 3rd port of a DI bypass valve (3 way ball valve) into the effluent product water of the RO membrane.

Then the RO goes through the remineralization cartridges into a container of your choice for drinking when in the bypass position, and to your DI cartridge for aquarium When the valve is switched to flow inline.

I actually put a tee after the ro membrane and ran a line from the tee into a check valve then to the final cartridges for the fridge/drinking water. No need to worry about moving the valve. Hope that helps. The check valve stops any backflow from the final cartridges.

How would this work if he wants to use deionized water for his tank?

This is exactly what I did before the DI cartridge. I ran a T to my pressurized water tank and a check valve. This way when I need DI for the tank, no valves to switch or anything. The 5 gallon pressurized RO container just gets RO water. That pressurized container runs throughout the house including a pressurized pump to pump RO water to the fridge and Ice Maker in the fridge as well as to an Ice maker in the basement and drinking faucet in the basement. It's been in use for 6 years now with no issues. No switches and no leaks.
