Generators?

Never and I mean never run a generator in your garage carbon monoxide can and will build up quickly get some extension cords and park that puppy outside and keep your family and fish safe

Most portable generators that I have seen wont work with an ATS. Lower end versions will cover an essentials for a house too. I have a concrete stand next to AC compressor near the power meter outside with a metal box.

I understand. But I said with the garage door open. And by that I meant the 8 foot by 20 foot main door. That would be more than enough ventilation. I've worked on my car with the engine running that way with no problems. I actually open the regular sized side door to get a cross draft going.

Generac 8000 watt, powers all tanks, tv, and ac... Kick back and pretend power didn't go out...

I have one these baby's generator. It has run like a champ for four year with my food truck business. I run amsoil in it and change the filer every 600 hours. I am drawing 8700 amps and a 40# tank will last 10+ hours.

You can set up UPS's that are not a small home computer one.

A pure sine wave inverter from Tripp Lite hooked up to a bank of deep cycle marine batteries would automatically switch over to the battery bank at power loss and you can provide 2-3 days of power back-up with a decent sized battery bank. The inverter would keep the batteries charged and switch over in miliseconds.

I ordered my generator July 5. This morning, August 6 our power went out. No obvious reason. Beautiful sunny day. I had just put the last of the new fish into the DT from QT. My BioCube was finally recovered from the Brooks outbreak I had. And then the power goes out. So I ran to the garage, opened the garage door manually, ran the extension cord and power strip, turned the valve on the propane tank, opened the generator intake valve and yanked the cord and... ELECTRICITY! BioCube fully powered for the next two hours until the power came back on. So glad I bought that generator rather than watching my tank crash.

That's awesome! I recently found Aquatop makes an ac/dc batery powered backup air pump with a ats for $10. It lasts about 24 hours on C or D batteries. If you keep spare you have two days worth. Anything over 2 days and you need a generator anyway.
