Generic Equipment Running questions

Ok, so I would have figured I'd have things a little more...well executed at this point, but I'm just finding out some gaps in knowledge, so looking for some info!

How long each day to you run UV?

• I have been running it 24/7, but that's to keep the Dinos away...
• Should you run it 24/7 normally?
• If you do run it so long, is it going to kill good bacteria on you?

How long each day to you run your skimmer?

• Does 24/7 make sense with this? I'm running the triton method, so he's after my fuge (chaeto).
• Is this going to pull beneficial things out of the water too much?

Essentially, I'm not trying to have "clean" water per se. I want enough junk in it to feed things and help my system naturally outcompete Dinos and other crap I don't want in there.

Not sure on the UV, however it will never kill the beneficial bacteria.
For the skimmer, yes, run it 24/7. If need be let it flow back into the sump. You don't want to give up the gas exchange

I don't think I would run uv to start a tank . Let it cycle first . No chaeto till you get fish in it.
