Generic Return Pump Question

My Vectra M1 will not fit in my return chamber without the impeller guard on it. From what I see out there I can’t find any that are shorter. Any suggestions on what I should do for the entry side of the pump?

You should be able to find something bigger diameter and shorter in length.

You can glue some 1/4"x1/4" netting if you have some.

Any idea what size I would need for the inlet of the M1. My rough measurements seem like 1 3/4". That is outside thread to outside thread.
