Do female Genicanthus Angels stay female if there are no other females in the tank?
Also, what if there are different species of Genicanthus females in the tank, do they all stay as females?

TIA

Hey Warren I have three females. A Bellus and a pair masked Swallowtails with one larger than the other. I’m hoping the larger will change since it’s the most dominant of the three. It started too, but since stopped. I have them probably six months or so and there was some bickering at first with no nipped fins or anything, but an acclimation box worked it out.

In most cases I have seen, Genicanthus are more likely to transition with another present, but even then there is no guarantee.

So basically, if you have a single female, she would continue to grow but stay as a female in captivity?

Ive kept several of them over the years, but have never had a female turn into a male without other females (of the same species) present. I have had a male swallowtail turn into a female with a female bellus in the same tank.
