Bleach and peroxide kill in the same way - active radicals - the difference is the residues. Residues from bleach and organic matters (organochlorine compounds) will stay in the ecosystem more or less for ever. Hydrogen peroxide will only give natural residues

I’ve been using this technique of sand siphoning into a filter sock in the sump for a while. It works well and is perfect for keeping the sand bed clean without having to do frequent water changes, like with the Triton method.

I use a waterproof magnet taped to the end of the hose and another magnet on the outside wall to keep the end of the hose in place.

I like how it takes out the stress of having to rush siphon a certain amount of your sand before reaching your water change volume, you can take your time. Also removes the stress of watching the water level in the bucket and the water level in the return chamber as you work.
