I use a MJ 1200 for a feed pump on my GEO 618. I'm running it over night to check for leaks and the back pressure from the reactor is causing the impeller to rattle. Can I use a valve on the feed line to relieve the back pressure? I would just open the valve enough for the pump to stop making the noise... Thanks in advance!

I used to leave the venturi/flow diverter fitting on the MJ pump so excess water could flow out of the airline fitting. Otherwise a MJ 1200 is too much flow for the reactor.

Trido- thanks for the tip. I had to go a step further and drill out the airline fitting with a 1/4" drill bit to finally get rid of the noise. It's gone now though, and the extra flow in that sump chamber will help from detritus settling. Thanks again!

Glad it helped. A lot of reefers just let the reactor gravity feed or siphon to take in the water. I've found over the years that they eventually plug and slow down so I pump water into it like you just did and then the reactor keeps a steady drip rate for months and months.
