My geo 618 keeps filling with CO2 to the point that the ehiem pump stops circulating causing my effluent to stop dripping. I've takin the thing apart. nothing seems to be clogged. I just can't figure it out.

I am only adding about 2 bubbles per second of CO2 and my drip rate is about the same. It literally works for less than 12 hours before the co2 builds up to the point it stops circulating.

Anybody have any idea???

I have the same unit. Do you have a ph controller hooked up? 2 bubbles/second is way too high. I use a ph controller and when it's on it only dispenses a bubble every 4-5 seconds. My drip rate is around 1/second and this is all on a 225 gallon system, how big is yours?

run your co2 half of what your effluent is at

try adding C02 @ 30 bubble per minute and run your effluent 60 drips per minute

what is the current ph inside of the reactor?
what are you using to feed the reactor?
what regulator are u using for the c02?

it sounds odd I have had the 612, 618, and 818 and never had a issue with a geo reactor.

make sure all the hose fittings are tight and are you bleeding off the excess bubbles when starting up the reactor

ph won't go below 6.9

I've been running it like this for over a year and now its been giving me problems for the past month. I'm going to lower the bubble count and see what happens. I'll also bleed out the reactor fully and see what happens

reactor is on a a system of about 175 gallons, but it has lotttts of sps inside.

I've always had problems with the drip stopping up with a low drip rate. Invariably a small particles clogs it up. Try a faster drip rate.

Have you tried to recalibrate your pH probe? If it is flooding with CO2 but the pH reading won't go below 6.9 then something may not be right...

I agree, it you have all that CO2 in the reactor the pH should be very low.

i calibrated it about 2 months ago. I'll have to get some fluid and see what happens. today it was still dripping, but the ph inside went up to 7.04 from 6.9. We'll see what happens when I get home from school today.

I have the same one and it used to do it untill I realized that you only need a bubble about every 3-4 seconds and the same effluent drip rate.Works flawlessly now.

well i just calibrated my probe...and now it says the ph inside the reactor is 5.94. bigggg diff! lol

one problem. while calibrating. I used 4.0 and 7.0 with the reef fanatic controller. the 7.0 worked perfect, the 4.0 was blinking error, but was at 4.14 so i figured its atleast close enough for now. Anybody know why its saying error?
