Georg Fischer wye check valve placement

So I had a question in regards to a Georg Fischer wye check valve placement


Im currently in the middle of setting up the plumbing on my 80 gallon frag tank and would like to incorporate this check valve as an added fail safe. My question is, can it be installed in the overflow on the return line or should I install it externally? I was thinking between the two 1/2" valves on my manifold with the wye part of the check valve facing up?

My preference is in the overflow area. the entire valve can be removed easily from the bulkhead for maint, since its just a push fit to the return bulkhead.

Mine is 20 years old and has spent the last 17 years in my plumbing odds and ends drawer LOL.

I've been using one of those on my 50 ( and previous 40) for about 10 years.
I've found that unless you are prepared to clean them weekly, there is a possibility that they can fail.
So I have mine setup so it only stops the water from back flowing into the sump and overflowing my skimmer.
The height of my return line in the tank is set so my sump can handle the backflow ( in case of power outage).
They can be used, but use them knowing they too can fail.
