This setup is still in the making. Replacing the existing MH fixture with a 8 bulb T5 Tek. Using the overflow for a small wet dry filter. Still not decided on what to do in the sump yet. 150 lbs of Fiji rock so far.

This ones going to be great!

Love the tank. Can't wait to see more.

Just took down my MH and hung my new TEK 8 by 54W gonna have to do something with the bulbs though. This tank is only 13" deep looking for anyone to chime in on different bulbs. Right now i have 4 10000k deepwater and 4 icecap antics on it. Also the thing ive been putting off, would like some suggestions on substrate, its still BB.

Love the dimensions of the tank! Going to be really nice. I would go with Caribsea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand. It is a larger granule size and will not blow around with higher flow (as smaller, fine sand will). With that shallow of a tank, I would just go with a 1/2" sandbed. That should be just fine. You could probably cover the bottom of that sized tank with 4 bags. I would soak the sand in tank water for a few days first before putting it into the tank.

As for bulb combos, what types of corals are you going to keep? What type of lighting look do you prefer (i.e. 14K, 20K, etc)? You could use a bulb combo such as the one listed below and it would grow anything you want in that tank. You will need to raise the fixture at least 10" off of the water surface or you could fry some of your corals.

Hope that helps. Can't wait to see this come together. How high will the tank sit up from the ground? By that I mean, is your goal a "look down" tank? I love the idea.
