I have a new IM-40 and got it all set up dry rock and some live sand. did a bottle of dr tims and the ammonia that was reccomended. However I am a dolt and forgot to take the sock filters out which I have heard can trap a ton of the bacteria. So was wondering if I need to just add a new bottle and wait for the ammonia in the tank to go down and just keep that up till it can eat the ammonia in a 24hr period or just let it keep doing its thing.

Just let it go. Bacteria in a bottle generally works fine. Love the IM-40's and have considered one for a tank upstairs. Hope you love it!

10-4 I will let it be. I was just making sure beeing new and all. I will keep an eye on it testing it everyday and see what happens. I did notice today I can see what looks like snow falling all over which Im guessing is bacteria having some fun eating.
