Hey ya I'm getting a 120 gallon acrylic sump (6ft) and wanted to know a good way to have one set up if that makes sense. Like chambered/baffled off. Of course want skimmer and return isolated but also thought maybe a small frag area (its 6ft x 24in wide and 16 in high) or just good ways to make it efficient and possible. Any pics of dumps or ideas would be great!!!

Hi,

sounds like a killer sump. is it not coming with any baffles/ chambers? theres a lot you could do.

Filter socks/floss/roller first, refuge, section of rubble rock to grow pods, skimmer section, open section you could use to put reactors or turf scrubber in, return pump and then maybe a sectioned off area at the end as an ATO res.

sorry, I just started dreaming I had that 6 foot sump and went crazy making my wish list :) I also added a ATS and cheato reactor to mine

My 120 with a frag tank and ATS on top.

This is the sump sorry I'll get a better pic tomorrow I had to set up a 55g real quick to hold some coral and a fish I got with the sump lol. Gave a diner size plate of purple monti w blue polyps, 20 head candy cane, 40+ sunflower zoa, gsp rock lol, 2 damsels, to a buddy. I picked up this tank, those frags and fish, plus an Atlantic blue tang, 100 lbs of rock, gyre wavemaker, t5 light single, heater, all for 250 bucks lol

180 gallon sump. The right side is my ato chamber. Otherwise just the normal skimmer, fuge, and return pump sections. Just set the tank up in January.

Like the ato at the end. That was my general set up idea just debated on a small frag area but I may just build a 4ft x 1ft x 1ft tank for frags

If you have the chance, keep room for 2 skimmers. I love to run a pair of skimmers.

Also, lighting ANYTHING in the sump can really suck since it grows algae all over the place. If you do end up with an algae or frag section, then line it with black acrylic to keep the light in just that area.

Nutrient export. Keep algae in check in the display tank.
Does it just grow algae on that or something? Or like a filter for detrius (or however its spelled)
Yea a black out kit sounds awesome. I'm debating a frag section but also plan of doing a frag tank on opposite side of wall. 3 or 4 ft long 1x1 w&h
