So I have a very simple question. With my next build I plan on doing everything right and using a qt for everything that goes into the tank. I did not qt anything last time around and did get lucky but with a bigger tank don't want to risk it.

So if you qt everything so well to eliminate any of the bad pest, how do you get all the goodies in your reef? All the sponges, pods, worms that help feed fish like angel and wrasses and also help filter feed and clean the water? What about coralline algae? If you go all dry rock how do you seed it in without introducing anything bad?

Some of the goodies will come in on frag plugs and what not.
You could also help seed by using a couple pieces of LR from an existing tank with no known issues.

I started with acid washed, bleached and then sun baked LR. Although my system is still young 2 mths, I seeded the pod population with Tigger pods right after the cycle. Now they are everywhere.
