Howdy... I was in the saltwater hobby 35 years ago, and then for 20 years... ended up with a 90 gal with 30 gal sump, skimmer, UV, Halide lights. Mostly inverts and fish, not much live coral.

I am looking to get back in, with more of an emphasis on corals this time. I do not want to go big bang this time, want to make sure I am really into this enough to go big.

So I want to start out with a small tank. Given certain restrictions on where I want to put it, I have decided to go with an Innovation Marine 40G Fusion.

My dealer recommended the following equipment to me... I knew about most of it, and I told them I wanted to get higher end light (or maybe move to 90 with supplemental lights later) that was internet programmable, etc.

Here is what I have
1. Tank - IM Fusion 40G
2. Skimmer - IM Ghost skimmer - have seen good and bad reviews... what you think?
3. Reactor - IM MiniMas - Seems fine.. .not much to these things
4. Heater - Finnex 200W Digital
5. Hydra 26HD Light
6. Vortech MP10 QD (one of them)

How does this stuff look to you? Buying anything here known to be a stinker? Is there a better skimmer out there that will fit this tank? Or is IM Ghost adequate?

ON A SIDE NOTE... I had considered the 30L... but the length/height of this tank I find just so weird. Am I nuts? Would the 30L be a better tank due to shallower water, and better with a longer swim path for the fish ?? I might still go that way... and keep everything else the same.

LX20000 your story sounds like mine, and I'm also looking at the I'M products, aqua illumination lights. I think your set up sounds solid. I can't wait to hear what every one thinks...good luck..I'll be watching

Same thing, well, 10 years in, 6 months out. I ended up with a Cadlights 42 gallon and Hydra 26 HD. The IM tanks looked pretty sweet, but I'm glad I went with one that has a sump. Love the light, but I can't say much for or against the rest of the equipment though, sorry.
