Had my tank crash a while back and killed almost all my corals from leaving a dose on. I'm going to upgrade to a bigger tank now and start over.

It's going to be a peninsula 7'x3'x2'tall.

Back to basics I'm thinking about scape. I have a lot of rock, I'm thinking of doing a sand bottom(because I want wrasse and maybe sawfish again), but I'd like the rocks to be elevated off the bottom a bit to help with flow and nutrient control.

Anyone done this? I was thinking thick acrylic rods siliconed to the bottom to set the rocks on to give an inch or two between the rock and sand.

I dont like a lot of aquascape that I see, but I'll have 3 sides to view from on this one and want some voids/holes in the scape, so more of a rock pile might be OK

I want to do mostly across, any and all advice is appreciated.

I like the idea of a floating rock scape, should help with keeping up with the sandbed maintenance. Also a peninsula is an awesome way to design a tank, loved mine before I moved and have a scape view able from 3 sides has a lot of positives... more placement for coral, easier maintenance, room divider thats better than any wall..

Another thing I'm thinking about is the fact that I'd like to be able to have wrasse and jawfish, had a bluesppt for years, he was awesome.

So I'm thinking about stacking starboard on 1/3 of each end of the tank and putting sand in the middle 1/3.
