Hello all,

Need some advice please. We have a JBT 35 gallon Nano that we took down in Sept 2015. Before we took t system down (due to a move from Minneapolis to Atlanta) the live rock was covered up with fine hair algae and bubble algae.
Would you suggest cooking the rock? It has been in a dry closed up card board box since we moved until now.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
This is before I got tore up with the algae.

I would soak it for 2-3 days in a 50/50 bleach and water solution, then scrub off all you can, then multiple soaks and rinses in fresh rodi

I wouldn’t suggest cooking it (as in boiling it). You can look into an acid cure if you would like, it will help leech out any built up phosphates. Then cure and cycle your rock in something like a heated 5 gallon bucket so when you put it in your tank you can add livestock right away.
