I had to give up the hobby because my job required constant long term travelling but now I am home most of the time. I think that and the new monitoring technology will allow me to keep an eye on my reef on those days I am not at home.

I started with a Red Sea Reefer 250 but I replaced their sump and plumbing with a Marine Depot 30 sump and colored pvc plumbing. Added a Skimz SM167 DC protein skimmer, BRS canister filter for my carbon and GFO and the Vectra M1 return pump. To light the refugium section I added the Tunze 8850 Waterproof LED. I wanted to use the Kessil but I don't have room.

To light the tank I installed two Radion XR30W G4Pro LED's so I can meet any coral lighting needs. Using an IceCap 3K Gyre to start as my wavemaker and after I get some corals I might add another one or the Neptune or Ecotech powerheads as needed. In the future I will add the Neptune automatic feeder.

60lbs of live sand in both fine and coarse sizes to keep it from all blowing around and make it deep enough for any species that like to burrow. Right now I am going through the process of reefscaping using Pukhani Live Rock and gluing it together with AquaForest Stone Fix.

Finally to monitor it all I have installed the new Apex 2016 with the ATK, FMK and WMX modules to monitor and control my flow, lights, etc. when I am not home. I plan to add the DOS, DDR, PAR modules later as I need them for corals.

The tank will mostly be corals of all types with just enough fish and invertebrates to make it interesting. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
