Getting back into the hobby after a 6 year break need some advice.

Due to a move and my wife's company unwilling to move our aquarium I gave it away 6 years ago.

My daughter now 7 wants to get into the hobby and my wife misses our tank so I am looking at getting back into it slowly.

A friend has offered us a 46 bow with a stand.

I am looking at lighting (my last tank was a LPS/SPS/Live Rock tank and I am planning on doing the same this time around)

I ran T5 last time but was looking at doing LED this time around...

For a 46 bow what would you all recommend? I did a DIY T5 kit from AHSupply last time, so I am not a name brand snob.

I don't know anything about lights, but glad to hear you are getting back into to it. It's always fun picking out new corals and fish!!

Kessil, AI and radions, Are the 3 most used I would say. and you can't really go wrong with any of them. As of right now led/t5 hybrid is gaining allot of popularity. What's your buget? Look at the features of the 3 big brands and look at pictures of what people's tank looks like. They all grow coral well IMO.

Led is a way to go if you dont plan on doing a lot of sps.
T5 and MH are still king for sps.

Heck, its not easy to buy a good used T5 fixture anyways. And new one cost alot more than to buy LED.
