I’m battling getting my RBTA off the rocks as their foots are really in there. I’ve tried putting an ice cube at the foot and hanging for 30 minutes but no luck. I just put them back in the tank for now. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Try putting in your sump with a powerhead pointed at it. I’ve had good luck with it crawling off rock in sump.

Point a powerhead at it perhaps?

Hang it longer. Just wet it every now and then. Might take a couple hours. Can pick at the edges of the foot with a plastic pipette to speed it up.

You might want to explain why you want to move it. In my experience they will do what they want to do no matter what you want. That is part of the beauty of the living animal. My suggestion... Leave it alone.

Daughter used fingers on bta to pull up foot, took 15 minutes.
Obvious, but if you can remove rock he's attached to...

I have three in there and I need to get rid of them as I plan on getting a new nem and don’t want the chemical warfare between breeds.
I have 3 bubbles, 1 long tentacle, 5 rock flowers, 1 haddoni carpet in my 155 also have some maxi catpets held there short term to go in the pico eventually.. all have been fine if they dont touch. One thing i found when doing a rebuild is that they dont like vibration. I tried to chisel out the area of the rock around the foot (about an inch away) to safely move some nems espically the rock flowers that really burry deep. As soon as i started hammering near the nems they let go and just fell onto the table. This happened with 6 nems that i couldnt remove any other way right in a row.

I’ll try that. I’m getting a CSB so rather not risk it with such an expensive nem.

Credit card. Butter knife. Finger nails. All these work for me if you need the job done in under 10 minutes.

I cleared them out of my DT by placing small rock rubble near/on them. They migrate onto one of those pieces eventually and I remove them with the piece.

Csb is just a fancy morph of bubble tip not that you have to keep them but its not a different breed, they can even touch in this case.

Yes they are the same breed but they can often end up fighting each other and the CSB will be killed. Rather not go down that path.

If not on all main rock work, and a piece of rock you can remove.. get in a bucket of water post water change...

Get a couple wave makers in the bucket and blast directly on it! Should help convince it to shift its foot and you can then easily work it off!

The rock work is all moveable. It’s all a reboot for the tank. Can I do too much flow directly on it? I have a jebao powerhead but it can pump out a lot of flow.

You can just start out half throttle and work up as needed... I would seperate into an isolated bucket. Easier to work with a that point.

Will try that soon. I’m just going to leave the powerhead blowing stuff it for now and will come back later. Never knew how hard it would be to get these off. I would do the other credit card tricks, etc but I can’t get to the foot. Just want to get the guys into their nem box and moved into my other tank.
