Getting Coraline algae to grow

Anyone have any tips on getting coraline algae to grow. I have a 30 gallon reef that’s been up and running for 11 months, very little coraline (just a spot or two on HOB filter discharge) growth.

Lighting: just upgrade from aqumax Nemo light to one AI prime. I also had /have one 36 inch T5 bulb.

Need a little more info and a pic of some of your rock work where you do have some growing

Alkalinity?
Calcium?
Magnesium?

I add a bottle on October 13, already see a purple coraline on a power head. It’s the first significant spot I’ve seen since I started the tank 11 month ago.

No, I used the purple Helix. I followed their directions upon adding the bottle and prior to this I started doing weekly water changes(instead of every two weeks)

if the water parameters are good then u need to seed it via adding live-rock that is already full of coraline or get some coraline from LFS/local reefer who's willing to scrape some off their glass and give them to u.

You can also see if you can get a snail with some on its shell, who will then spread it around for you. Sounds as though you already have some in your tank though, so keep your parameters good and (I hope) it will grow in time.

Yeah, thanks me to. By good parameters I’m guesing you also mean stable? On a side note I used to have a ton of coraline growth in a tank that I had years ago (with power compact florecents) that had nowhere near the “good” parameters that are expected today.

I suspect that only certain types of coraline grow well under today’s LED lighting.

I've got an overabundance of it in my tank, and I run just LED lights. It came seeded on snails and crabs I bought, just from their shells. No other sources of it, and now its almost completely coated my back glass, most of my rocks, and spreads like grass on my glass if I don't scrape it.

That's why I said it can also be a pain in the butt. lol
But I'd rather have it than not.

On the glass, I used a magnet cleaner that has the scraper, works great.
