Getting Cycle Started

So here is my plan, let me know if it will work.
Tank is a 220 gallon - 72'' x 24'' x 30''

Got Dry Rock from Billy's Reef, CaribSea Live sand. Gonna get a cup of sand and a few live rocks from an established tank.

Should I start the cycle with pure ammonia?
Should I add Dr Tim's nitrifying bacteria also? Is the Top Fin Ready Start Nitrifying Bacteria from PetSmart just as good or should i use Dr. Tim's?

Is that all i need to do?

I think starting with pure ammonia is the best idea.

I'm not familiar with the Top Fin product but for the most part, they are all useful. My personal preference is BioSpira since it was developed by Dr Tim and I can get it locally at Petco.

The problem you will run into is that many of them add scents or soaps. The most reliable place I have found is Ace Hardware. Otherwise, its easiest to order Dr Tims ammonia chloride.

I just threw in a shrimp from the grocery store. I changed it out for a new one after about 4-5 days and repeated until ammonia tested 0. It took about 3 weeks in my 90

ok cool...I have an Ace hardware in town.
I may also just order the Dr. Tim's stuff.
