Hi I am just starting out with lps about a two months ago and am wondering when I should start dosing 2 part or what I should dose. Last time I dosed 2 part into a softie only tank and it caused a lot of issues, but I know lps in a nano will consume calcium and mag faster than water changes can replace them once they start growing and settling in fully so is there a formula or process to follow and figure out how much/how often to dose so I know I’m doing it right. Any advice is very helpful im taking my first steps into anything more than softie only tanks so I am completely new to caring for them. I feed my acans lobo and goni reef roids and coral amino three times a week right now is this enough feeding? I’m doing spot feeding as to not nasty my water up to much and weekly 10% water changes (1 gallon)

Just me, but I feel that you should not be dosing if you don't understand why you are dosing.

Basically, you should be tracking your parameters daily, to figure out the daily consumption of your tank, if the consumption is more than can be replaced with normal water changes, then we think about dosing to compensate.

A few tiny little frags are not consuming many nutrients, you have to monitor your tank to find that line where the corals reach a level where dosing is needed.

Seems like you only have a 10 gallon tank? its small and easily maintained by water changes IMO.

Without knowing your calcium and alk levels, and without knowing how much is consumed, in say a week, cannot advise you on how much to dose. You should have good testers for this, not API.

Sorry to sound preachy, not my intent

I use Serra master kit but it’s not very good ime, not preachy at all man you are absolute right about not dosing when you don’t know why you are in the first place. Lost alot of corals doing that in my softies tank. Thanks for the advice I will log for a few weeks daily testing and get back to you with more info.
