Getting old equipment safe for use again

I was wondering what different approaches you guys do for cleaning old equipment that you want use again.
I have a bunch of 5 gallon containers that Im planning to clean with some diluted bleach (about 1 tablespoon in each 5 gallon container) then I was going to clean it out with white vinegar/water solution followed by flushing with tap water and then an RO/DI water rinse.

Sounds like a good plan. I usually just soak in white vinegar and rinse thoroughly in tap letting it dry completely after.
