I know I'm posting a bunch of threads today, been a busy week of tank updates and such.

I have a 5 gallon, so I HATE plugs. How do I get these off? especially this new monti cap and birdsnest I got, really would like to get them off. The plugs look awful right now.

Just pull. As long as the frags are only glued down and not encrusted, they will pull right off.

Flathead screwdriver to pry underneath the plug

Be sure to RINSE screwdriver under tap water bc it will rust pretty quick

I use this tool. It's not made specifically for this use, but you can easily get both long sharp edges between a frag and its plug without putting pressure on the frag itself. Then just squeeze the handle gently and most frags pop right off. It's also made of good steel that doesn't rust easily.

+1 I used my hands once and smashed a frogspawn into bits. Always use a tool. Get under it and push up
