I live down by Miami and looks like I got a hurricane category 5 my way! Wondering what you guys would recommend me to do to try to keep my fish and corals alive. Stopped by my Lfs and got two air pumps that last about 8 hours each. Was thinking about having some fresh saltwater made just in case I go with no electricity for a prolonged amount of time. To my fellow Floridians wish you the best and stay safe. Wish me luck lol.

Also how long do you think my corals and fish can go without a light source

Hopefully this monster swings north away from you soon!

Around three to four days without light for corals. Fish will be fine without.

Main thing is oxygen and temp. Down there it will get hot without AC. Bags of ice (which will be hard to keep and get) or a fan blowing over the tank may help. Back up Batteries for the air pumps would be a must.

A power inverter comes in handy in situations like this. If you have to leave for a extended period and don't have many fish or corals, you could transfer them to 5 gallon buckets or totes with lids for transporting to a safe location with power along with some of your equipment. Once there, lights over the totes and powerhead for flow for the corals. Bubblers for the fish.

I did this for a week when the apartment me and the wife caught on fire and had to evacuate. Worked well on my 56 column. Small tank and easily moved.

We're looking at evacuating. Thinking of packing up the tank in a few 5 gallon tanks and going to North Carolina (have family there with big enough home to take us and our pets). I'm hoping my anemones are ok with the trip. How long do you think they would be ok without lights? I'm guessing a day or two ... they handle cloudy days in the wild, right? Amazon should be delivering two battery powered air pumps tomorrow. <fingers crossed> Water change tonight.

Should be okay for a couple days. Watch your water pramaters though.

Amazon rescheduled my air pump order till the 11th (too late!) My guess is that they're out of stock and not telling people that's the case. I also got notice that the D batteries, Amazon brand, are no longer available until another week. Also too late [emoji26] I have air bubblers but not the kind that turn on if the power turns off. So this is a little disheartening. I'm not worried about losing my phytoplankton and macro tank but I have three other tanks that I'm very concerned with. I do have a power inverter but if we have extended power lossage that's going to do no good. And I can also run one tank off of it that's it. And since I have a seahorse tank I cannot combine them with my reef tank.

I have tracking info on mine... If not here by tomorrow, then off to the bait shops. I also ordered batteries from them, but got brand name not the Amazon brand. It was like a $1 more. I'm looking at my Brute tubs (white, food grade safe) now. Water is being made by my rodi now for a water change tonight. We will decide / pack tomorrow and leave Thursday (hopefully ahead of most people). Thank goodness for being self employed.
