Getting rid of algae (on glass)

I would like to get rid of the algae in my tank. I know it's no easy task. What is the best way to do this? I've kept my lights off for several days, yet some remains, and not sure how to get rid of this stuff.
I tried getting the algae off on my glass with a sponge, but it doesn't remove that easily. I've attached an image of what it looks like.

Magnet cleaners are popular and very easy to use. When the algae gets harder though... you'll prob need a glass scraper.

How old is your tank? Newer tanks usually go through phases of nasty algae growth and it’s best to just let the tank stabilize.

For glass you can use an algae cleaner - magnetic ones are probably the easiest to use. Look up Flipper or Algae Free, Tunze also makes it.

Get a small razor blade scraper at the hardware store, I have a plastic one where you can easily replace the blade. Magnet scrapers are fine if you keep up on it, but eventually it needs the razor.

Do these magnets work well on curved surfaces?

You mentioned curved, is the tank glass or acrylic? With acrylic you have to be careful with the metal blades scratching the acrylic. If acrylic I would use a small plastic drywall spatula. My tank is glass and I use the Flipper.

Mine is glass. I purchased the Tunze.
