Getting rid of vermetid snails

I have had my tank empty for almost a year now, and I've noticed that the vermetid snails are still there. There are so many of them. I thought they would have died off and decayed. What is going to be the best way to get rid of all of them, especially in those hard-to-reach areas? Could I just restart my tank? Or would they come back to life? Are they hibernating right now, or are they dead?

Looks like harmless spirorbid worms to me. It's just their leftover shells. I would just scrape what I can get at and not worry about the rest.

Fill this tank with vinegar and water for a couple of days, that should do it.
