Getting snowflakes clowns too host my RBTA!

I know there are many ways too get clowns too host an anamone !
In this thread I will be using “the foto on the tank method “this method has worked for me before .
So I recently purchased 2 snowflakes too put in my 90 g mixed reef ,I have a few torches in there and 1 RBTA ,my clowns are at the moment hosting a powerhead in the top left corner of my tank , they’ve been in a week so far , I know these clowns have never seen an anamone before because I know the guy who breeds them .
So yesterday I looked on the inter web thing and downloaded a couple of photos of clowns in anamones , I printed them out on glossy photo paper then cut them out and stuck them on the side of the tank where the clowns hang out .

The last time I did this it took about two weeks before the clowns hosted my anamone , so I’m interested to see if and how long it will take this time !
To me this way may take a little longer but it’s less stress than trying too force them into it ,in the wild when clowns are born the fry will leave the reef and head out into the open ocean when they are big enough return , also never having been in an anamone before .
I will update any progress or results I find !

Could be today, tomorrow, or never. It's pure luck of the draw whether non-symbiants will find one another. Being captive bred will not prevent a clown from hosting. Evolution can't be undone by a handful of generations of captive breeding. The issue at play here is that Occys are not a BTA symbiant---- they are not found together in nature. If you were to put a Mag, Gig, or Merts anemone (Occy symbiants) the clowns would be in it within hours. If you were to replace the Occys with one of the 14 species of clowns that are a BTA symbiant, hosting would be almost immediate.

I just put my bta in a peacemaker with my clowns and within a day they were hosting. I think not giving them a choice helps

My RBTA sits in a crevasse I can’t get him loose , and really I don’t want too try ,!

Alright, I agree. After having many bta's I feel like they do better the less they are manipulated. Its too bad you can't borrow someone else's bta and put your clowns in a peacemaker so they will learn what to do. I have two tanks and I literally taught both sets of clowns, one after the other, how to go in the same anemone. They both learned to host the anemones though one still goes to a duncan, another to my hammer corals and one set to the zoas but they mainly stay in the btas.

@Jason mack I’m in a similar position as the one you were in here. How did this turn out for you? Did the clownfish host the bta long term? If so, how did you get them in? I’d appreciate hearing your experience.

That’s does more harm than good. Doesn’t allow the clown to develop its special coat

It didnt work for me ...my snowflakes are hosting my devils claw leather ...they dont go near my bta ...I just left them alone really

Thanks for the reply. I’m gonna leave them be, I don’t want to stress them or force the behavior when this isn’t their symbiotic match. They’re the only ones in the tank right now and they’re new to the environment. If they find it, great, if not, maybe they’ll find it down the road when it splits.
