I have a 125 gallon tank and a sump that I keep about 20 gallons in. Running a Maxspect 12k DC pump that is capable of 3170 gph and I have a Clarisea SK 5000 that max flow is 1320 gph. I'm currently running it about 1500 gph but was thinking about reducing it to about 1200 gph. Would that be adequate for the size tank I have?

Oh and I also have a Icecap 4k gyre.
Ultimately, the question of flow is going to come down to what corals you keep. SPS like higher flow (but not direct high flow) whereas octospawns and froggers tend to like gentle flow. If you get good, random currents in your system and alleviate the dead spots where detritus might build up, it will ultimately depend on what you are trying to keep and those corals will 'tell you' if it is too much or not enough based on their reaction. Sorry that my comment is about as useful as wet toilet paper after food poisoning...but in the end, it all depends.

My corals seem to like it where it's at and my anemones have parked themselves so I guess they are happy too. I might be overthinking things and should leave it as is. I was planning on reducing my flow and increasing my gyre flow. I just can't leave well enough alone sometimes lol

That comment was very useful and wet toilet paper does clean a little bit!

Best thing you can do is what you are doing...read your tank. Kudos!! It will tell you what it needs all you have to do is listen.

Happy New Year!!
