Getting some LR in. Now what?

That’s amazing! You’re saying to let it cure for 6-8 months or that’s how long you’ve had yours for? I can cure it for a couple weeks, but I head out of the country after that for a few months. So I gotta get it in there before that. Can’t expect the wife to take care of too much while I’m gone. Lol

You only need to cure it for a few days. Everything that is going to die will do it in that short time. If you want to be extra cautions mix up a new batch of water after 3 days and transfer the rock into that. Can check ammonia levels after a day in that new batch to make sure.

Make sure you have a power head in there while its curing pointed at the surface providing good circulation and air exchange.

Power head, match heat, and keep your ammonia low. The first few days I was doing wc 2x a day. Should level out in about 10 days. I never scrubbed my rock, I shook in some old tank water.

Will do! I have the perfect container to let it cure in. I have a heater and plenty of power heads around to ensure it is hitting the surface and around the bottom. Even with not letting it sit wouldn’t I be okay since it is only 30 lbs going into a 400 gal system? Not saying I am going to do this, but if I have to cut the curing process a few days early.

You will know when it's done cycling. Keep it clean. Do daily water changes remove whatever dies off at same time. Let it fully cycle tho you dont want to introduce ammonia back into your reef if you can help that. Although your system may be big enough to handle it's that initial spike in ammonia that can do most damage.

Will do! I’ll just let it do it’s thing for a while. Should be long enough until I leave to let it cycle.
