I'm setting up a new 93 cube and would like to use Aquaforest products... with that being said, do I need to use the Carbon and GFO that's listed in the setup in the product guide? Or can I use something such as a refugium for nutrient control?

I'm going to be running a bare bottom tank, so that should help with the nutrient control.... any thoughts??

You can do anything you would like with thier system. I just switched over to a full af system. I have a decent sized refugium. I have not had to add carbon or gfo, but I am running zeolites in a reactor. I always like to have some gfo and carbon around just in case.

I run a bare bottom with AF. I will say you don't need it while cycling but once its over you may throw some in. I have zeolite in my reactor too. Currently I am trying to figure out effect of biopellet over the system and may use their upcoming biopellet in future.
